What happens after assessment

What happens after a suitable assessment outcome is issued?

You will receive an email at the registered address, notifying you that your application has been finalised. You can then access your skills assessment outcome via My eQuals. Contact the Department of Home Affairs for next steps.

How many points do I get for my work experience?

Points for skilled migration purposes are determined by the Department of Home Affairs.

The Department website has guidance on points depending on the visa types.

For how long is a skills assessment outcome valid? Can it be renewed?

An AITSL skills assessment outcome is valid for the period shown on the outcome statement from the date of issue and cannot be renewed.

I disagree with an assessment outcome – what can I do?

Your first step is to contact AITSL to clarify the reason you were found not suitable. If you still do not agree with your outcome, you can request a formal appeal. This request must be made by email within 60 days of the date of your assessment outcome.

There is a fee for this service. For information about current fees please visit our fees page.

An independent, third-party reviewer will consider the original application and additional information/evidence demonstrating you met the assessment criteria at the time of your initial assessment. If you want to submit new evidence or results obtained after the date of your assessment outcome (such as a recent qualification or an Academic IELTS test result), you will need to submit a brand-new assessment application.

All requests for clarification and appeal should be made to AITSL via migration [at] aitsl.edu.au. Please include your registered name, registered email address and 8-character payment reference.

Can I apply to get a skilled employment statement?

Successful applicants who receive a suitable AITSL Skills Assessment Outcome can request a Skilled Employment Statement (SES) in the Applicant portal. Read our SES webpage for further information. Applicants who do not receive a Skills Assessment Outcome are ineligible to apply for an SES.
