7 August 2026

13 July 2026

AITSL has extended the validity period for Academic IELTS test results from two years to three years. This change aligns AITSL's English language proficiency requirements with those of the teacher registration authorities across Australia. This update takes effect immediately.

4 Febuary 2026

The Agent Authorisation Form has been updated to clarify that the applicant’s email address must match the email entered in the online application portal, as this email will be used to issue outcome statements. Please ensure this updated form is used for all future applications.



Previous notices

16 December 2024

The Teacher Migration Services and Support has moved to a new Applicant portal. All new applications for skills assessment and skilled employment statements must be lodged in the new portal. Applications lodged in the previous portal will be completed in that system. An updated Application Guide and Applicant Portal User Guide have been published to assist applicants and agents.

1 December 2024

The Teacher Migration Services and Support Office will be closed from 24 December and re-opening on 2 January 2024. Please note that assessments may take longer due to a significant increase in application numbers and the holiday closure.

7 November 2024

From 7 December 2024, ACECQA will be the assessing authority for the Early Childhood Teacher occupation. If you have an application submitted with AITSL, your skills assessment will be completed consistent with AITSL’s assessment criteria. AITSL will be accepting applications for this occupation until midnight of 6 December 2024.

1 December 2023

The Assessment for Migration Office will be closed from 24 December and re-opening on 3 January 2023. Please note that assessments may take longer due to the holiday closure.

Notice of change to AITSL Assessment for Migration Fee Structure effective 1  September 2021

New Identity Requirements

In addition to a passport, two more identity documents will be required for applications starting 1 September 2021. Applicants can submit birth certificates, national identity cards and official photo bearing documents.

9 November 2020

Information for applicants who studied some or all of their final year of initial teacher education during 2020 has been published. 

AITSL's processing times have changed. Assessments are now estimated to take between 10 to 12 weeks to complete.

2 December 2019

The Assessment for Migration Office will be closed from midday 24 December and re-opening on 2 January 2020 for the holidays. Please note that assessments may take longer than the estimated 10 weeks due to increasing number of applications and the holiday closure. 

The Application Guide has been updated to ensure that requirements for submitting evidence in support of applications is clearer and easier to understand.

AITSL is no longer offering a phone enquiry service. All communication will be through email [email protected] or the Applicant portal for current applications.

1 May 2019

Paper-based applications no longer accepted. All applications must be lodged online via the Applicant portal.

Notice of change to AITSL Assessment for Migration Fee Structure effective 1 July 2019

Online Applicant portal launched, applications can now be done online. Paper-based applications accepted until 30 April 2019. Updated Application Guide and new Portal User Guide published to support online applications. New checklists containing assessment criteria for each occupation have been published. 

24 December 2018

Please note that the AITSL Assessment for Migration office will be closing on Monday 24 December 2018 and will re-open Wednesday 2 January 2019. During this time you will still be able to post your migration skills assessment application and this will be retrieved and processed as soon as possible upon our return. Any enquiries during this closure period will be responded to after we re-open on 2 January 2019. We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
